light at the end of the tunnel - let's chat

1/7/17

It's early Saturday morning and the sound of a good, soaking rain can be heard out my studio window.  I'm already on to my second cup of coffee and my head is swimming with the things I want to do versus the things I should do...already the struggle with which tug will be stronger has begun.

There was a time not so long ago when there was no struggle.  There was only taking care of what
needed to be done one day, one moment at a time.  There was no creative spark crying out for me to play hooky to the needs of my small world.  Simply let's get up, put one foot in front of the other and survive until tomorrow when we will struggle to do it all again.

As I type these words I am already wondering...hesitating...as to whether or not to push the publish button.  You see, while I love pretty things and I want to bring beauty and loveliness into my every day life, those times of darkness in my life (in our lives) are certainly real but we have been taught not to admit it, to smile and pretend everything is okay.

The why's of my struggles are personal but the fact that they exist and can seem to choke the very joy out of what should be a beautiful, fruitful life are common to us all.  It can be so easy to get caught up in this cyber social world and see only what appears to be and wonder why you are missing out?

What I couldn't have shared a couple of months ago is that there is hope and light on the other side.  I wish there was a simple step by step tutorial on how to get from point A to point B as quickly as possible but I didn't find one.

What I did find was there is healing and hope in prayer, there is promise and provision in His Word and there is Light at the end of any tunnel.  Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it) patience and perseverance will be required along the way.  That plus a whole lot of faith...

It's good to be back...

xo, Patty

  1. Patty, You are so right. Trouble will find a way to our door steps...The secret is never giving up..hang in there with the Lord on your side. Some times social media is not near being real. But it is a good way to vent, to talk with your blog family. I call it letting off steam so the top of my head doesn't blow off. :):) I saw a sign at a church...it said "Prayer is the original wireless connection "...well isn't that so true. Stay strong sweet friend. Blessings to all of you, xoxo, Susie

  2. You are right, Patty. No one knows the countless heartaches that are hidden behind the cheerful words and "perfect lives" you see in blogland. Some things are too hard to share with even good friends, let alone the blogging world. I am glad that you see a light at the end of the tunnel. Hold on to it as best you can. It is so easy to get sucked into the vortex of hopeless and helpless chasm. God bless you- You got this, kiddo!!!! xo Diana

  3. So true Patty. No one wants to hear the pain and sorrow that many of us experience everyday. But in the blogging world it's different. We have real friends and real support groups on here that reach out to us and share our pain and passions. Keep looking forward and know that blessings are coming your way.

    hugs,
    Sissie

  6. Your words are so true. It's easy to look at all the pretty pictures and think that life is perfect for everyone else except we know that everyone is fighting battles of their own. I am so grateful and thankful we have God fighting with us! Hugs and God bless you!

  7. Thank you for sharing. It happens to us all and we don't share..but, I have found the only way to get through is just what you did. Satan would have us down, but prayer and the Word is the way to fight it. Glad to see you creating and sharing again.
Social media and all that goes with it can make us feel inferior. Those are the highlight reels. The actual reel to life is probably pretty messy and imperfect for most.

  9. No truer words were ever spoken. Yes, this social media world is a construct. We crop the mess out of the photos and put our best foot forward. We make sure only the beautiful shows and go to great lengths to make it look like our lives are all sunshine and roses. We aren't doing anyone any favors. It leads others to think their lives can't measure up and wonder why they seem to have problems when everyone elses biggest problem is what vignette to use this week on the buffet table. It's not all sunshine and we would do well to remember the false picture that most of social media is. Praying for you. I'm glad you're back. I'm glad you're real.

  10. It IS good to be back. I am always so grateful that we can have a fresh start each new day. With each day brings hope that we can heal a little bit, grow a little bit. Bask in His love. He lovees you right where you are, wherever you are.
