studio tour - part three

11/19/15

Okay, we are rounding the corner of our week long studio tour today.  You can go here and here to see the first two parts.

This area is designated for paper projects.  There are blank tags, paper scissors, small bits of ribbon and loose buttons in the pretty containers on my blue painted table.

I love using old picnic baskets for storage and always grab them up when I see them at thrift stores and garage sales.  These are used to store yarn, wool and felt and various stuffing products for pincushions, ornaments and pillows.

This drop leaf table is another thrift store find.  This is the first time I've used it in my studio and I don't know why that is.  Having a table that extends and then folds down so easily is a great way to add tempory work space when needed.

I have shared my farm table sewing station before.  I love having a large work space dedicated to sewing projects.  I know it may look a bit helter skelter but it is actually really quite organized.

My current favorite fabrics are stacked here for inspiration along with projects that I am currently working on.  I keep my unfinished work separated in small plastic totes so that I can see what I'm supposed to be finishing before I start anything new.

Of all the crafts I do, I think I love sewing the most.  Everything from choosing the fabric to the finished product brings me such joy and a sense of satisfaction.  Creating something useful and pretty for people I love makes me happy.

If I could get away with it I would spend hours behind my machine.  Those days are rare now but I know someday in the future I'll have more of them.  For now I steal away for whatever time I can, sometimes waking in the wee hours of the morning when the house is quiet.  Those moments are just for me and I am conscious to appreciate them.

I have one more post tomorrow.  I'll be sharing the business and packaging side of my studio plus a few of my current projects.

xo, Patty

  11. Your craft room is darling! Love those buntings!!
You've given me a great idea... using my old picnic basket to store some stuff in. I have other baskets with lids on them for some storage, but my picnic basket will work great too :)

Wishing you and yours a very Happy Thanksgiving.

  14. Now that I have moved to a small home I miss not have a designated space to "craft".
All the more reason I like to see yours.

  15. Wow Patty, that is an amazing craft room. How wonderful to have a dedicated space to do the things you love. While I do some occasional scrap booking or knitting I must admit to being more of an appreciator than a creator of art. I'm looking forward to your next segment so I can see what you are working on. :)
