pillow love -give away day 2

5/22/12

One of my favorite ways to change out a room is simply to update my throw pillows and I know I am not alone.

My day two give away has me offering this pretty blue ruffled pillow.  It is professionally finished and has a zipper closure which makes cleaning it a breeze...simply toss the cover into the washer and dryer, give it a quick ironing and it is good as new.

I think it looks pretty out on the front porch rocker just inviting you sit down and relax a while.

I could spend hours out here just listening to the birds and watching the neighborhood kids play.  As the days start to get longer I am reminded of the countless hours I spent outside as a kid on the street in front of my childhood home playing tag and hide and seek or if we could find a pool, I was always up for a little Marco Polo.  Of course, we had to be in when the street lights came on.

Okay, here's your question...What was your favorite childhood game to play outside in the summer?

I can't wait to hear.

xo, Patty

  1. That's beautiful print on the pillow. I enjoy my time on the porch watching the birds. I love seeing them go from the feeders to the birdbath. It makes me smile! I can only remember playing hide & seek. We lived in the country, no pool for Marco Polo. My kids, grown up as they are still play Marco Polo in our pool and hide & seek. Nice post!

  5. Hi Patty! I found your blog in Romantic Homes and I knew I'd found a kindred spirit.
I loved playing TV tag and Squat tag when I was a kid. We had a lot of baseball games in our big side yard. Whoever ambled over was given a spot on the "team" and we'd play until the grass grew damp and then my mother would call out, "DO NOT sit on the damp grass. Bath time!"
Two more weeks and I'm out of school and then we start all the happy granny fun (and the quiet poet/knitter fun, too!) Thanks for the smiles!

  10. The pillow is so pretty. I love the color and pattern. We used to play hide and seek with the neighbor kids, we would be running for house trying to find everyone. And we too had to be home before the street lights came on. I remember scrambling to get back to the house before my mom would realize the lights were on! I would LOVE to win this pillow, I have a rocker just like yours!

  27. The pillow is lovely, and I have just the right spot for it!:)
Can you believe that I was not a very active child? My favorite thing to do was swing on the swing my dad had made on a limb of a tall pine tree. I was also known to spend lots of time reading a book under the shade of the oak tree. No A/C when I was growing up, and the heat has never been a favorite of mine.

  35. Patty,
Our neighborhood had lots of parental involvement! Saw horses would be set up to block off an entire city block and at night we would be allowed to play "flashlight tag"...until my Dad blew his policeman's whistle. I loved this because I was the smallest one and when I bent down...eveyone thought I was a landscape rock...don't ever remember getting caught!!! The other was catching lighting bugs and designing jewelry from their parts!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  36. So I admit, I've been a "lurker" here for some time, enjoying all your posts and photos so much. They always bring a smile to my face.
But I had to jump in today and say how I too love the birds chirping and hearing the neighborhood kids outside playing.
When I was a kid I loved to ride my bike and would always have to be home when the street lights came on. As a grown up I now have a bike with a basket on the front that I tote my little wiener dog in and I love after dinner rides with her when the weather in warm and right.
Thank you for all your lovely posts- they inspire me and warm my heart.
