One of my favorite ways to change out a room is simply to update my throw pillows and I know I am not alone.
My day two give away has me offering this pretty blue ruffled pillow. It is professionally finished and has a zipper closure which makes cleaning it a breeze...simply toss the cover into the washer and dryer, give it a quick ironing and it is good as new.
I think it looks pretty out on the front porch rocker just inviting you sit down and relax a while.
I could spend hours out here just listening to the birds and watching the neighborhood kids play. As the days start to get longer I am reminded of the countless hours I spent outside as a kid on the street in front of my childhood home playing tag and hide and seek or if we could find a pool, I was always up for a little Marco Polo. Of course, we had to be in when the street lights came on.
Okay, here's your question...What was your favorite childhood game to play outside in the summer?
I can't wait to hear.
xo, Patty

That's beautiful print on the pillow. I enjoy my time on the porch watching the birds. I love seeing them go from the feeders to the birdbath. It makes me smile! I can only remember playing hide & seek. We lived in the country, no pool for Marco Polo. My kids, grown up as they are still play Marco Polo in our pool and hide & seek. Nice post!
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is beautiful Patty! I loved riding my bike. I need to get my current bike out and pump up the tires so I can hop on after work and get some exercise! We have miles of bike trails here:>)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pillow. I love that shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteI have fond memories of my sister & I playing red light, green light and mother may I every summer.
Love the pillow, Patty. I would love a chance to win! I girlfriend and I would spend many afternoons on her front porch playing the board game "Life."
ReplyDeleteHi Patty! I found your blog in Romantic Homes and I knew I'd found a kindred spirit.
ReplyDeleteI loved playing TV tag and Squat tag when I was a kid. We had a lot of baseball games in our big side yard. Whoever ambled over was given a spot on the "team" and we'd play until the grass grew damp and then my mother would call out, "DO NOT sit on the damp grass. Bath time!"
Two more weeks and I'm out of school and then we start all the happy granny fun (and the quiet poet/knitter fun, too!) Thanks for the smiles!
I loved to ride my bike!

ReplyDeleteThe pillow is so pretty. I love the color and pattern. We used to play hide and seek with the neighbor kids, we would be running for house trying to find everyone. And we too had to be home before the street lights came on. I remember scrambling to get back to the house before my mom would realize the lights were on! I would LOVE to win this pillow, I have a rocker just like yours!
ReplyDeleteI love the print of that pillow. Living out in the country there weren't many neighbor kids so I mainly spent hours riding my bike. That pillow is calling to come sit a spell!!

Patty,
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is lovely! I also enjoy "redecorating" by tweaking and editing. I think I'll do so today!
The pillow is lovely, and I have just the right spot for it!:)
ReplyDeleteCan you believe that I was not a very active child? My favorite thing to do was swing on the swing my dad had made on a limb of a tall pine tree. I was also known to spend lots of time reading a book under the shade of the oak tree. No A/C when I was growing up, and the heat has never been a favorite of mine.
Lovely pillow, Patty. Well, let's see. We used to play "Statue" and "Redlight." Those were two of my faves. Susan
ReplyDeleteWe played Tag..Red Rover and of course Hide and Seek...Statues...That's all I can think of at the moment..Love the pillow but no longer have anything in blue...I spend a lot of time on the porch in the evening with Mollie when it's not too warm...
ReplyDeleteLove the pillow!!! As a youngster, I loved to play red rover - brings back great memories :)

Patty,
ReplyDeleteOur neighborhood had lots of parental involvement! Saw horses would be set up to block off an entire city block and at night we would be allowed to play "flashlight tag"...until my Dad blew his policeman's whistle. I loved this because I was the smallest one and when I bent down...eveyone thought I was a landscape rock...don't ever remember getting caught!!! The other was catching lighting bugs and designing jewelry from their parts!
Fondly,
Pat
So I admit, I've been a "lurker" here for some time, enjoying all your posts and photos so much. They always bring a smile to my face.
ReplyDeleteBut I had to jump in today and say how I too love the birds chirping and hearing the neighborhood kids outside playing.
When I was a kid I loved to ride my bike and would always have to be home when the street lights came on. As a grown up I now have a bike with a basket on the front that I tote my little wiener dog in and I love after dinner rides with her when the weather in warm and right.
Thank you for all your lovely posts- they inspire me and warm my heart.

Love the pillow...and I know exactly where I'd put it if I'm lucky enough to win!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite game was "Mother May I". There were at least 16 kids that would gather together most summer evenings and we'd play that game over and over. Such fun.
Gorgeous pillow!!!
ReplyDeleteHmmm. We played freeze tag, kick ball, marco polo (in the pool) and rode our bikes EVERYWHERE. And I saw a commenter mention red light, green light which I totally forgot about!
Playing house. Get out of the house to play house. That's silly. Bring all the things out and play forever. Dolls, blankets, play dishes.
ReplyDeleteI love this pillow, Patty! I have the perfect cozy rocker just screaming for it! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd have to say my favorite game wasn't really a game at all. I was a professional tree climber in my day! Boy if I only had the engery now that I did back then!!
-Denise
My mom was great at making scavenger hunts for us....we couldn't wait for the supper dishes to get done so we could run around the farm looking for the next clue. She made everything rhym....I could never be that clever.
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely pillow....thank you for the give a way!
Congratulations on your one year anniversary, Patty. How sweet of you to offer these fun giveaways!
ReplyDeleteThe pillow is so pretty and the colors are so cheerful. Love it.
I had so much fun reading your comments. It brought back happy memories of playing outside every day in the summertime. My very favorite thing to do back then was to go swimming in a neighborhood pool and play "operator" under water.
Same here - hide and seek.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the pillow!
Aside from playing with my Barbies and making houses up and down the stairs in our home using wash cloths for rugs and pennies for plates... I loved playing red light, green light. Oh, the fun of running around with bare feet and oh the stumped toes!
ReplyDeleteRoller skating and playing jacks on the sidewalk! The pillow is beautiful and would be so comfy on the porch swing on our porch ;)
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pillow Patty...and it would look lovely on my front porch swing! ;) Oh goodness I loved to play hide and seek with the neighbor kids. I was REALLY good at hiding too! I also liked to play baseball and roller skate and just ride bikes with the kids. We had a nice bunch of kids in our neighborhood...I miss those days. :(
ReplyDeleteLovely pillow. I loved hide and seek, also played baseball, if the boys would let me play. I loved to pick flowers in the spring and I collected leaves in the fall. Just simple things.

I played marbles a lot but I can't remember how now! Love the pillow!
ReplyDeleteSuch a cute ruffled pillow. I was just hunting through the house to find a pillow to add to my wooden chair by the front door.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add that our favourite game to play was hide and seek. A group of us would meet each night after dinner and play till it got dark. Those were the days when you could play outside and not worry about the nasty things that go on today.
ReplyDeleteDon't laugh about my favorite summer game...I loved watching the ants. It wasn't a game but it was fascinating. While all of your beautiful items are treasures, I love the pillow!
ReplyDeleteLove that blue pillow! My favorite game to play outside as a kid was either Kick the Can or Four Square.
