a collection of mismatched lovelies.
As much as I enjoyed experimenting with the shabby whites, soft blues and trendy grays of the new classic cottages, I find I am most at home with vibrant, rich colors, especially reds and yellows.
I think one of the reasons so many of us gravitate toward "cottage" style is because it allows for individuality...both in color and collections. It lets you surround yourself with all the things you love, move them from here to there and back again, until you reach your own personal well worn, much loved style. A place that says,
sit down...
rest a spell...
you're home.
I hope this weekend provides you plenty of time to enjoy doing just that.
I love that yellow pitcher! I lean toward warm, bright colors too. I'm so glad all the brown, brown, brown is finished. I like the soothing cool seagreens and blues, but I don't think I could live in it. It's just not me. I'm looking forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteI'm right there with ya! Those reds, golds, greens, and rich blues are staying with me!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Heather, The bee pitcher is wonderful. I love it.
ReplyDeleteI think you description of cottage is so true. I also love looking at all those bright homes but I must have color and lots of it.
ReplyDeleteI, too, love that bee pitcher!
ReplyDeleteYour color combination is warm and inviting. Just like home should be!
I love, love, love that bee pitcher!! Have a delightful weekend! Xoxoxo
ReplyDeleteI agree. A place has to reflect who you are.
ReplyDeleteI also agree with you. Love your pitchers.
ReplyDeleteSo well put!! That is what I love about the cottage look, that you can use what you love and it works!! Thanks for your visit and kind words!! Jina
ReplyDeleteI love the cottage white look and envy those who can pull it off. However, I think in truth very few of us can actually live that way. There are a lot of colors in the rainbow, and I've seen many homes around the web who manage to have a very pretty colorful cottage look. Seems you are off to a great start. Loving that bee pitcher.
ReplyDeleteThanks for enjoying your feature on my blog today!
Love the bits of red and yellow you have added. I couldn't live without color either. Have a beautiful day! Tammy
ReplyDeleteYour ideas and cottage accessories are spot on! :o) I love what you are doing by bringing warm colors in. :o)
ReplyDeleteI know what you are saying! I was thinking of going with the soft colors - pinks - grays - whites ... til i painted my entranceway HOT pink and I am loving the COLOR!
ReplyDeleteyes - we need to feel like we are HOME don't we... no matter the trend.
Have a PRETTY day!
Kristin

I enjoyed this post -- finding someone who isn't completely enamored with the all-white decorating trend is refreshing to me :)
ReplyDeleteI am a blue/green/white type of girl but I agree with you that part of the cottage life is the choices we have. Love that pitcher!
ReplyDeletePretty pitcher! Yes, yellow and red is my favorite color combo!
