in all fairness

7/11/11

In all fairness to my husband, I should have given a little more background to our “puke” discussion.  I was asking his opinion and after much back and forth he said the living room was not to his taste (it was starting to look a little bit too much like my studio which is very feminine and fufu”).

Since the living room is the only common room in the house that he spends time in, his input is important to me.  I asked for his opinion…Actually, I was surprised he feels as strongly as he does.

After reading a few comments I realized that the one sentence on its own was a tad bit out of context.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I have some painting to do.

  1. I'm actually pretty surprised when I see totally over the top cottagey, frilly homes that also include a husband and children. I wouldn't know how to keep that up and can't see a family in that environment but lots of folks manage it. Your home is much more sedate and laid back and will certainly be easy to transform with just a bit of paint. Have fun! Best wishes, Tammy

  2. I understand where you're coming from. My husband let's me do whatever I want as far as the house is concerned. So if he ever says he doesn't like what I've done-I listen!
So what color now? I have to say I love the room as it is. But I am a girl, after all!

  3. I know exactly want you mean. If I had my way our whole house would be very cottage. I am asking my Hubby for his ideas too when doing rooms wo we will both like it. Some rooms he says he really doesn't care about and some he does. When I do the LR that is when he says he wants to talk about.

  5. That's what I should be doing to. Painting is big on my list this summer but I can't seem to drag the brushes out after our vacation.

  6. I look at a lot of bloggers' homes and wonder about the husband behind the blogger. I have a husband who HATES the distressed painted furniture that's so in style right now. Our house isn't frilly, but I know there are some things in our house my husband doesn't like, but he picks his battles carefully! Paint is easy to fix and I'm sure it will look great when you are finished...again.

  7. Patty, I think it is wonderful that you have this kind of communication between you.

Shows me you both have a good marriage.
