the ease of October

10/23/14

I'm not normally partial to any one month more than the other but the ease of October has got me under it's spell.  There is nothing spectacular about it and maybe there in lies its charm.

The days are kissed by the sun and the nights have a hint of the coolness to come, perfect days for reading and nesting and dreaming.

I haven't had anything new to share with you by way of decorating or art projects which is why I've posted less than normal but today I was feeling especially content and thought why not share the quiet bliss moments as well as the "tada's" of my life.

A little reading, a little music making, a little playtime and a whole lot of joy in the simple things.  To just sit down and breathe...it's exactly what my heart needed.

Are you feeling it, too?

xo, Patty

  1. Patty, It is good to be caught up on household chores and just relax. I just try to not make myself crazy worrying about everything that can pile up...if I should take a moment to myself.LOL. Blessings, xoxo,Susie

  3. Great thoughts, Patty. October is a month to rest and reflect before the craziness of the holidays. They will be here before we know it.

  5. For me October is a crazy, busy months with lots of birthdays and work to do. But I know exactly what you're sayin' and for me January ends up being that kind of month. I know some people hate January, but I relish it!! I really really love the painting above your couch, by the way!! :)

  6. I am feeling it, although I also feel the holidays bearing down on me and am trying to take this opportunity of not much going on to do some planning! Enjoy the month, it goes by so fast...

  7. I wish I were feeling it...it's been quite busy here lately. I am having overnight company tonight and then having to travel an hour+ to my aunt's house tomorrow to help her pack for moving. I also had my annual physical yesterday and have quite a few appointments to make...eye doctor, mammogram, physical therapy for a new problem I'm having, and I'm way behind on some dental work, too. Looking forward to some relaxing time, that's for sure!

  8. Patty,
    Life has definitely s l o w e d down here on the Prairie. . .
but I'm NOT the slow down type.
I have so~o~o many things I want to accomplish throughout
both the upper and lower levels of our home before the onset of the Holidays.
Sometime, I feel God s l o w s us down to make us focus on what's truly, important in our lives.
To that cause, I give Him thanks and Glory!
    Fondly,
    Pat

  9. Dear Patty, it sounds like you are having time to rest and that is a very good thing. I guess to see the spectacular beauty of the month you need to take a drive to an area where they are getting frost. You don't really have the season changes in California unless you travel to a mountainous area. Maybe you could plan an autumn drive and picnic . . . that sounds so good . . . maybe I should plan the same:) I see that you play guitar, that is something that I didn't know about you. When I pick mine up, time just flies; I usually don't stop playing until my fingers start getting sore.
    Have a wonderful weekend.
    Your blogging sister,
    Connie :)
    P.S. Adorable dog:)

  11. I agree, I've been feeling lazy lately and I have no guilt with it at all. The days are perfect, the only thing that will make this better is when Hallmark TV starts their Christmas movies, I may never leave the couch.

  12. Oh yes. I love October. Even though we still have plenty of hot days, the nights are delightfully cool, and the days are shorter, and I get that nesting instinct going like crazy.
    Miss you.
